Abstract

his article investigates the relationship between the notion  of performance proposed by Zeca Ligiéro in Teatro das Origens and practices carried out in Ratha Yatra festivals around Brazil and India. From the analysis of devotional practices, I suggest how we can, through the idea of ​​theater spectacle of communion, which takes place through dance, singing and rite, to understand the ways of perpetuating an ancient culture in current performativities.

Author Biographies

PAULINA , UDESC- Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina

Paulina Godtsfriedt Prado is an actress, performer, researcher and teacher. Graduated with a bachelor's degree and bachelor's degree in theater from the State University of Santa Catarina and currently in the process of completing her master's degree at the same university. Research the possibilities of devotion within the training of the actor and the mystical universe linked to theatre.

 

BIANCA, UDESC University of State os Santa Catarina

Bianca Scliar is a multimedia artist and works with performance and video at the intersections between dance and the visual arts. PhD in Arts and Philosophy from Concordia University (Montreal/Canada) works between research and creation, investigating pedagogical and compositional processes. Her main areas of interest are performing arts in unconventional spaces, collaborative processes, interdisciplinary practices and choreographic objects. She is a research associate at SenseLab (Instituto Hexagram/Concordia University), where she serves as a member of the editorial board of the journal Inflexions - the Journal of Research Creation. She is a professor of body techniques and dances in the Theater Course at UDESC, State University of Santa Catarina and in the Graduate Program in Performing Arts. Director of Lab.Ei, Laboratory of Tests and Unforeseen , gathering for the research-creation that unites artists, philosophers, teachers who investigate the intersections between site specific dance and philosophy, through the production of hybrid events and interdisciplinary processes, uniting theory and action and systematizing improvisation processes. At LabEi, conditions for improvisation are researched, including practices and reflections on procedural pedagogies, relational art and philosophy of the organism. Interested in sharing that is not seen (the intangible-sensitive), it is dedicated to creating and welcoming the unforeseen, in compositions or in study practices where Sharing, transducing the common, making possible occasions besieged from choreographies that are permissive conditions to invoke attunement of affections is the center of their creative studies and experiments.
