Abstract

This article analyzes the perception and representation of color in the contemporary context, focusing on the constitution of a national chromatic palette. It investigates how the dimensions of matter, image, memory, and technology — including the impact of artificial intelligence — shape visual discourse and become language in a plural society. The approach is grounded in theoretical reflections and an examination of chromatic brasilidade (Brazilianness) present in subjective productions and in the works of artists Cildo Meireles, Tunga, and Adriana Varejão. It concludes that developing a Brazilian palette presents a complex challenge of cultural symbiosis, where color acts as an interpretation of the visible world driven by interpretive immediacy and the symbolism of the visualities of its own time.
