This visual essay stems from digital chromatic studies conducted from selected color-body fragments of Albers 25, a work created by the Study Group in Pictorial Process of the Apotheke Painting Studio (CEART/UDESC). Albers 25 constitutes a chromatic and material recreation of one of the studies of transparency and color density proposed by Josef Albers in the book “The Interaction of Color” (1963). After a collective selection process, the color is presented in another time, space, and materiality: color, form, and composition are translated into a set of 25 canvases, each measuring 50 x 50 cm. In this essay, the work Albers 25 serves as a framework for the construction of a new color-body, which can be disassembled and reconstructed. Beyond the disappointment generated by the impossibility of aesthetically appreciating the numerous variables, compositions are proposed based on a grouping by similar colors, using a selection of 8 from the 25, maintaining the original proportional, now reduced to 4 units that make up the new combinations. Color shifts from paint on canvas to color-light, the medium through which the essay is experienced. The purpose is to create compositions that convey the perception of transparency and opacity of colors, above other values, such as the distribution of visual weights or aesthetic values; however, not all combinations convey through color alone, but also through the overlapping and/or continuity of forms.
