Sensory analysis applied to textile design constitutes a relevant tool for understanding how different types of fabrics influence consumer perception regarding material characteristics. This study aimed to evaluate the sensations perceived by users of knitted products, considering factors that influence purchase intention. To this end, differences in color and touch between the fabrics were analyzed by investigating divergences in the interpretation of sensory attributes and comparing the results obtained. A descriptive and comparative sensory study was conducted and adapted for untrained evaluators. Four types of knitted fabrics were tested: combed jersey knit, suedine knit, open-end jersey knit, and rib knit, all composed of 100% cotton and presenting the same color. A scale ranging from 1 to 5, based on opposing adjectives, was used for the evaluations. Regarding tactile perception, the aspects of softness, texture, elasticity, and thickness stood out, highlighting the influence of the structural characteristics of the knitwear on the evaluators’ perception. Concerning color, uniformity and intensity were pointed out as the most relevant factors. It was observed that, even in samples with the same coloration and under controlled lighting conditions, perceptible differences were identified, demonstrating the impact of the textile structure on light interaction and, consequently, on the visual experience. It is concluded that this type of research is significant to textile design, as it considers the individual's experience and demonstrates that such parameters directly contribute to the perception of comfort and to the value attributed to the product.
