The creative economy has consolidated itself as a strategic field for territorial development, especially in contexts where culture, fashion, and crafts act as vectors for generating symbolic and economic value. In this scenario, fairs and cultural events assume a relevant role in promoting the circulation of knowledge, products, and experiences, contributing to the appreciation of local creative practices. This article analyzes how fairs and cultural events act as catalysts for strengthening fashion and crafts in local contexts, based on a case study of the Mercado Xique event, held in the state of Piauí. The research adopted a qualitative approach, using document analysis, interviews with participants, direct observation, and photographic records as methodological procedures, with data processing through thematic analysis. The results show that the event acts as a space for symbolic legitimation, identity strengthening, and expansion of visibility and commercialization opportunities for artisans and fashion designers. At the same time, the analysis reveals limitations related to the punctual temporality of the actions and the need for greater articulation with public policies and long-term strategies. It can be concluded that cultural events such as the Xique Market are concrete instruments for activating the territorial creative economy, provided they are integrated with structuring actions capable of sustaining their social, cultural, and economic impacts.
